Senior Pastor – Rev. Hammett N. Evans

A third-generation Methodist pastor, Rev. Hammett Evans grew up in Little Rock, Pine Bluff, Dumas, and Jonesboro, Arkansas, graduating from Jonesboro High School in 1988. He earned a B.A. from Hendrix College in 1992 and a Master of Divinity degree from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia in 2002.

Rev. Evans entered the United Methodist ministry in 1990 and was ordained in 2005. He has pastored churches in Quitman, Damascus, Enders, Fordyce, and Bryant Arkansas; Mount Zion, Georgia, and the Wymondham-Attleborough-Watton Circuit in Norfolk, England. Prior to seminary, he served as youth minister in Maumelle and Batesville and as activities and choir director in Crossett, Arkansas. Rev. Evans was appointed to FUMC Monticello in July of 2018. He will serve as a delegate to the South Central Jurisdictional Conference in 2020.

Rev. Evans married Michelle Pounds in 2002. A native of Hamburg, Arkansas, Michelle works as a consultant for ASU Childhood Services. Together they enjoy traveling, spending time with their family, music, movies and TV, as well as outdoors-ey stuff that doesn’t require a tent.
