If you would like to join the FUMC Monticello church family, please check one of the items under “Wish to Join” on the “Let’s Get Acquainted Card” or email Bro. Bryan Diffee or call him at (870) 367-2471 to arrange an appointment. Becoming a member is easy. Being a member is a challenge because being a committed disciple of Jesus Christ calls us out of our comfort zone. We welcome anyone of any race, station, or status to join us for any of our activities. Members may join in the following ways:
Profession of Faith and Baptism: for people who have never professed their faith in Jesus Christ publicly or been baptized.
Profession of Faith and Confirmation: for people who were baptized as an infant, but never confirmed their faith.
Transfer from Another United Methodist Church: for people who belong to another UMC and would like to transfer their membership to our church. Bro. Hammett requests a letter of transfer from the pastor of the church where the person belongs. For those who prefer not to stand in front of the congregation, a “no-stress” option is available.
Transfer from Another Denomination: for people who belong to another branch of Christianity’s family tree. As United Methodists, we recognize the baptism of people who come to us from other denominations. You will be asked the vows of membership, “Will you be loyal to the United Methodist Church and uphold it with your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness?” Bro. Hammett writes a letter to the pastor of the church where the person belongs, letting the pastor know about the transfer. For those who prefer not to stand in front of the congregation, a “no-stress” option is available.
By Statement: for people who have been baptized and belonged to another church, but do not know whether or not a record of baptism and membership exists. Records may have been lost or the church may have closed.
By Reinstatement: for people who withdrew their membership from a church or were notified their membership was removed from a church roll.
